BOB, Bug out bag, emergency kit, 72 hour kit. The essentials of a basic no frills single kit should contain the minimal which an individual requires for a period of no less than 72 hours. This is another conundrum within the prepping community similar to the bug in or bug out question. Many subjects within prepping on the bug out bag can be expanded upon by applying the 'but what if' factor and rightly so, options of survival is by no way a bad thing. If you have no wish to become a prepper consider a basic emergency kit, a little preparation for you and your family in times of emergency.
A BASIC NO FRILLS EMERGENCY KIT
When i check my BOB be like . . .
IF I COULD ONLY HAVE ONE KNIFE OUT OF ALL I HAVE AS A MAIN IT WOULD BE THIS ONE, TRUSTWORTHY, NO NONSENSE, NO NAME, HANDMADE AND BASIC.
The main objective for my knife is bushcrafting etc especially obvious whilst packed with camping kit etc, not so obvious if you are in the pub though. The police do a hard job and make the knife decision based upon experience and what appears obvious, failing that the court will, be wise, if in doubt leave it out.
Emergency strobe, light for a dog collar ! Weatherproof and does the job .
Too much kit ? Too heavy ?
Do not overload your bag, weight just means using more energy to carry, more energy burns more calories, burning calories means eating more and if it's hot drinking more. Replace some with more knowledge, a bushman carries a knife and has more knowledge that is of use than any expensive survival toys will ever be.
MINI EDC
Kit that can be taken just about anywhere especially when minimal space is available for carry or location dictates as to what can be carried.
CAR EDC KIT
This is always in the car, providing the basics for the short trips we do so additional carry not required otherwise kit increased in relation to trip. This is in addition to the basic car kit which is carried, see the BOV page for more and car kits.
Carried with the small EDC. Here I am thinking in relation to going out be it to a club, bar or festival etc. Keeping carry to a minimal with with space, loss, theft and security regulations in thought.
